Superintendent Estatico

As the new year and the spring semester has begun, Mr. Stephen Estatico has taken the reins as the Superintendent of the Pima Unified School District.  Hired by the board last November, Mr. Estatico brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to addressing the unique needs of the Pima Schools community.

A lifelong educator, Steve moved to Arizona thirty years ago from western Pennsylvania.  His love of learning led him to pursue opportunities in the classroom, the gym and the administrative office.  As a teacher, he shared his love of history, civics and geography with students.  He also held many coaching positions.  Most recently he has been the superintendent / principal at Superior Unified School district overseeing both the JFK Elementary School and the district’s operations.

While Mr. Estatico brings a fresh perspective, he also embodies the leadership role Pima Schools many have come to expect from Pima Schools.  He has served for many years as the Southeastern Representative on the Executive Board of the Arizona Rural Schools Association, and was recently elected to the President-Elect position of that group.  He is also actively involved in advocating for rural schools through the Arizona School Administrators legislative policy guidance committee.  These roles will enable him to both make a meaningful contribution and continue to build the relationships that benefit Pima Schools and other rural schools across the region and state.
